Athens Georgia Area Fun This Spring -2008!

One of my favorite things about the Athens, Georgia area in the spring (other than that the fact that the real estate market picks up) is that festival, fairs, and fun abound!  Mark your calendar now and make sure you don't forget these:

The
30th Annual Athens Human Rights Festival will take place in downtown Athens beginning at 10am on Saturday, May 3, 2008 and run through Sunday, May 4, 2008 around 9pm.

"The Athens Human Rights Festival brings together political activists, musicians and artists in a call for action on human rights issues as well as a celebration of advances in the area of human rights."

Come join in the fun, learn something new, support your cause, or just hang out for some great music!

Fun and foood for everyone in Carlton Georgia at this year's festival on Aprail 26th, 2008The Carlton Festival (located in Madison County, Carlton, GA) is scheduled to begin at 10am on Saturday, April 26, 2008.  The festival will be held at the fairgrounds on Highway 72, near downtown Carlton, Ga which is about 30 minutes east of Athens, Georgia.

Featued entertainment this year will be lots of music by locals, a live petting zoo, horse rides, ox cart rides, alpacas,  and more.  It would be a festival without funnel cakes, turkey legs, boiled peanuts, hot  dogs and special desserts.  There will also be crafters of every kind.  Come hang out with us is Madison County Georgia for a day full of fun!

Growing up as a tomboy who still liked to play dress up, I'm really looking forward toFairy on a flower - 1st annual FaeryFest in Comer, Georgia 2008 this one - Comer, Georgia, also in Madison County and just off Highway 72 about 20 minutes from Athens, is host to the "First Annual Faery Fest"  billed as "A Spring Renaissance" and to be held on Saturday , May 3rd, 2008.  The ads entice everyone to "....delight in all things joyful, magical, fun and faery"!  Doesn't that sound like a super day?

The website promises to be live soon, check it out at www.FaeryFest.org, and I'll try to keep an eye out and update when available.

If you know of a cool way to spend a day or a fun place to be this spring - please let me know in the comments!
