A Thanksgiving Prayer is Answered & Maddie Gets to Go Home!
|
We have 5 dogs in our family and she was so small and quiet I knew she wouldn't be happy here. She seemed really dismayed by the hustle of bustle of living with 4 kids, 5 dogs, my loud husband, and who knows how many cats....but at least she was warm and safe. We posted her on facebook marketplace, checked online lost dog ads, searched the newspaper, to no avail. But this morning a call to the Clarke County Animal Control led to 1 lost dog inquiry that might be for her! Chris left an anxious message, asking "Is this your dog?" at 10am this morning. At 6pm there was still no return call and no answer, and then the phone rang...we all ran for it. The caller said "I don't know - she's been missing since Thanksgiving and we have given up". So into the car she goes for a short ride - about 4 miles - and sure enough, she is now back home! Maddie, we enjoyed having you visit, but please stay home next time! Maddie is an eight year old dachsund who had never gotten loose before and her family really missed her and was looking everywhere for her. In the hustle and bustle of the Holidays, pay extra attention to where your pets are and if you spy a little stranger in the road or your neighborhood take a moment to try and help them get back home, please!

Gotta love happy endings! At least she found a warm and caring place to stay temporarily.

Kevin, this really wasn't the place for this comment, BUT I'm leaving it because you sound like you really want to be heard and you've inspired my next post on unscrupulous landlords that prey on our UGA students in the Athens area. Sorry you've had so much trouble!

This is a really great story. I have two dogs who have became part of the family. If they were missing, I would pray that someone as honest and loving as you guys found them.
Happy Holidays and God Bless!

I just did the same thing earlier today. Our groomer called us, because a client had found a dog wandering in the road and didnt want to dump it at the shelter. We tracked down the owner through the rabies tag. The dog had been missing 3 weeks. The look on the kids faces alone was totally worth it.
